Missions Report

Over the past year we have supported worldwide missions in:

Malawi, Africa – Wes and Lorrie Jonat who oversee and help administrate many locally run ACOP churches in Malawi and work with many of the pastors and their congregations there. It is a country like many others in Africa, ravaged by HIV and AIDS, poverty and dependence, and many orphaned children. The Jonats have now relocated to Canada and are seeking what God would have for them next, so please continue to pray for them.

Central America – Gerald and Ruth Nygren are missionaries to southern Mexico to the Panama Canal with a heart for Latin America. Please pray for safety as they travel throughout Mexico and further and that the people there would be well grounded in the Word of God and that the Word would continue to spread throughout the regions. They are thoroughly enjoying their time there ministering. See their report below.

Trevor Harris – Trevor is like a father figure to our congregation but his spirit is still fired up for God. We have been supporting him as he travels around the world preaching and helping local ministers of the gospel. Pray for his continued good health and fire! See his report below also.

Locally we support:

Canada – Street Invaders under the umbrella of AYMI (Apostolic Youth Ministries International) run by Larry Moore, this ministry is seeing the fire of God come forth through the Christian youth of Canada with a vision to be nation wide and putting ministry back out into the communities in which we live. We have benefited largely from this ministry to our youth and in the youth who have come to visit. Pray that the vision for both a nation wide presence and for passionate active youth for Christ would be realized.

Vancouver Gospel Mission – Barry Babcook has been running and administrating the Gospel Mission for many years to help out the less fortunate of Vancouver’s inner city. We have had teams go to help out with renovations and dinners in the past and recently with the some of the men going to help out. Pray for continued favour for the mission within the city and that lives would be set free and healed from the trials of life on the street.

We have recently heard from Leading Influence Ministries, led by Tim Schindel. He is ministering to our MLAs in Victoria and seeing amazing stories and victories in this delicate realm of politics. Although he often gives credit to the open doors he enjoys to others who shove him through!, he is definitely God’s man of the hour in that area of influence. http://www.leadinginfluence.com

Although things are in transition and ministries are changing there are many things to be excited about for the future. Together we are affecting our surroundings and in praying and supporting these godly works you can and do have a part in them.

Here is an update from Trevor Harris:

May I share with you a story about this elderly woman named Mary that we met in Mexico? While preaching I came to a part of the message on Bartimaeus (Mark 10:49) where Jesus commanded that “they call the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise, He (Jesus) calleth thee”. Upon hearing that Jesus was calling, Mary left her chair made her way to the front of the church where she was received with open arms from Jackie (the interpreter) and a prayer of blessing from me. Mary did not wait for the formal invitation at the end of the sermon. Mary had heard the call to Jesus in her own heart and made an instant response. My hope is that we all will be open and sensitive to Jesus’s calling in our lives and that we will respond obediently without hesitation.
I thank you for your prayerful and financial support as I continue to respond to the call that Jesus has for me. Please pray that God would continue to keep both Val and I physically healthy, that we will continue to be a blessing and direction on where/how we should minister for the 2012 year.

    God richly bless you.

  3. Here is something from Elsie Welsh, enjoy and consider!

    Dear friends,

God’s glory was all over my recent trip to Cuba!! I have never had an easier time entering the country with all my suitcases and gifts! Thank you so much for praying about that!

I was so blessed to attend the Pastors’ retreat and minister alongside Kenn Parker! Prophetically, that guy is like an x-ray machine! God was so gracious to allow his anointing to rest on me and I came away with an increased ability to flow in the prophetic!

Many pastors arrived very burdened and overwhelmed but by the end of the retreat there was a shout of victory in the air!

The first night I felt to preach on the “Lord of the Breakthrough” and then we prayed breakthrough release over them and the situations they were coming from. Something happened!!! As I travelled up island, I heard report after report of the glory of God invading the meetings, with many salvations, healing and deliverances occurring. The pastors and missionaries were so encouraged!!

God is sooooo good! Pastor Raul is like a son to me, so I was very upset to find him ready to give up! He is in charge of three provinces, over 46 missions and 8 churches, plus the church he has planted in Holguin of 200 people (in 2 years!) Finances are always short making it hard for him to move around to visit the works and breaking his heart when he cannot offer tangible assistance to all the workers underneath his care. He desperately needs a car!! Would you please pray with me for the miraculous provision of a car? Praise God, with the new laws, Cubans can now buy and sell vehicles BUT the price is still outlandish for these old cars!! There are many leaders, responsible for many works, that are without transportation. They simply have to hitch hike from place to place! Praise God, that the Holy Spirit ministered to Raul at the retreat and I was able to continue to encourage him and his wife. They are pure gold!

Things are changing in Cuba – PRAISE GOD! They can also buy and sell land now. We arrived in a city where Vladimir and his wife are planting a church. Three years ago, he was the town drunk that got saved in one of my meetings and now he is an on-fire church planter!! He and his wife were not able to attend the pastors’ retreat because their land lady gave them one day to vacate the house they rented because she wanted to sell the property (this was the second time!!) Anyways, the deal fell through and she apologized and asked them to move back in – until she could find another purchaser! Gonzalo, Elina and I visited them on our way to Holguin. When I saw the large piece of land the house stood on, when I heard about the sizeable congregation they already had meeting in the living room, and when Gonzalo told me she wanted to sell it for approx $1025 Can, my heart jumped and the Holy Spirit told me it would be a sin not to buy it!!! The next day, in faith, I took a cash advance on my Visa card and Gonzalo took the money along to buy the property. I wish I could have seen the faces of those kids!!! They are so worth investing in! And then, when Alberto told me he had borrowed money to buy a house and property in a nearby town, so he could continue a new mission he had there, I asked him how much the loan was. I just about fell over when he said it was the equivalent of $250 Can – a large piece of property with a decent house on it!! Guess what??? I’m buying that too!! I came back feeling like a real estate mogul!!! What fun!!

For a week in Holguin, the glory of God manifested day after day, in greater proportions as hungry people met to worship God! The presence of God would come, broken people would start weeping, falling on their knees in repentance, falling out all over the place, bodies being healed and demons manifesting. It was so EASY to minister because the Holy Spirit was doing it all! On the last Sunday , 44 people ascended the Loma de la Cruz ( 360 steps up the mountain to the cross) where we praised and prayed over the city – asking God to visit every home with His glory! It was powerful!! By that time, my voice was totally trashed from preaching without a microphone in the damp night air and praying over people for hours!

It was an amazing trip!! Even though I returned with an intestinal infection, and still don’t feel 100% , I was able to get it together to have Christmas at my place! What a wonderful wonderful time with all my family together! Lots of love and laughter!

The doors are opening wide in Cuba presenting more and more opportunity to quickly advance the Kingdom! Missions and churches are multiplying on almost a daily basis. They are now sending out missionaries to other nations! Cuba is very fertile soil to plant in! Some overseers are needing vehicles, some churches are wishing to borrow money(which they would pay back) to start small businesses and now is the time to help them buy property before the prices skyrocket! If you are able or interested in helping with any of these projects, please contact me. I bought the $1000 property in faith that God would supply the money – would you like to partner with me in this? God is moving quickly in Cuba, and we must be careful not to miss the train!!

I have my voice back and I’m shouting GLORY!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR AWESOME FRIENDSHIP, PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT OVER 2011! I’m believing for an even more glorious 2012 for all of us!

    With heartfelt gratitude,

    Elsie

  4. Here is something from Gerald and Ruth (better late than never, my fault!)

    Sept. 13, 2012

    Dear Pastor Stan and Assembly,

Greetings from Puebla, Mexico in the name of Jesus.

We pray this letter finds you well and rejoicing in the Lord of the
harvest. This is such an exciting time of the year and we pray for
you and yours that you will experience divine help in the midst of
    many activities and challenges.

Firstly, thank you for helping us so much in the spiritual harvest
through your prayers and gifts of $150.00 in July and August.

We are both well and rejoice to be serving our Lord and Savior in
Latin America. We have many ministry areas, but will just highlight a
few to provide some current ongoing items as you remember us in
    prayer:

    1. On Monday, Aug. 27 a dedicated group of students began a new
semester of Bible, Theology, and Ministry courses at the Puebla Logos
Bible College. There are 5 national leaders receiving Gerald’s course
    on Spiritual Growth.

    2. We co-teach a course on “The Missionary Call” at the Latin
American Centre for Missions training school. The 9 Mexican students
are preparing to serve as Cross-Cultural missionaries.

    3. Classes for the school year resumed at Puebla Christian School on
Aug 29. Once again Ruth serves as a part time volunteer, teaching
English as a Second Language to 22 students from grades 1 through 10.
She also runs a reading program for all the elementary students and
has many informal ministry opportunities with both students and staff.
This is vital “4-14 window” disciple making (The “4-14 window” refers
to the opportunities to evangelize and train 4 to 14 yr olds).

    4. Ruth received some good news at her doctor’s appointment last week
as her test results showed improved kidney functioning, blood
pressure, sugar and cholesterol. She does need prayer for ongoing
application of life-style changes. Also, she is suffering pain from
cartilage degeneration in her left knee and both ankles.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer and finances,

    Gerald and Ruth Nygren,

  5. Here are some notes from Trevor Harris:

I have recently returned from Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula where we have just completed 5 special services with the people of the Tsawout Assembly of Praise Church and Victoria Full Gospel Fellowship. Our first two evening services were on the Tsawout Indian Reserve with Pastor Hugh & Tabita Marks. What a great time we had in worship, in the word of God, and at the altars. Many people received prayer each night.
